Civil War Military Marker
The Veterans Administration will provide a marker for your Civil War Veteran ancestor both Union and Confederate,
at no expense, if the grave-site is located but is totally unmarked. The marker can be a flat or upright granite
or marble headstone, a bronze flat marker, or a bronze niche. The form you need, for ordering, is VA Form 40-1330
and it can be obtained from a local Veterans Administration Office. You can also call 1 800 827-1000 and request
one, or write the Office of Memorial Programs (403A), Department of Veterans Affairs, 810 Vermont Ave., N.W., Washington,
DC 20420 and they will provide one. Some funeral homes will keep a supply of the forms.
